Brutus was a stray in North Carolina with his friend Truman. Truman sadly passed away soon after getting into rescue. We do not know his age, but could be anywhere from 6 to 10 based on a few different veterinarian opinions.  We also don't truly know his breed, but if we did DNA test I know it would come back 100% ADORABLE.  One vet thinks sharpei based on his coloring and skin issues. 

 

He was first fostered in Ohio for a month and is now in his foster home in Wisconsin. Brutus is special needs. He is vision impaired and needs three eye medications two to three times a day to help keep what vision  he has left. He also has allergies-his ears and paws will need ongoing medical care most likely with medicated baths and oral medication. He is 60pounds of pure love, joy, and happiness. You can't meet Brutus and not smile. He is fostered in a home with three female dogs (boxer mastiff mix, 22lb boxer pug mix,and english bulldog)  and two senior cats! He gets along with everyone and is very sensitive. If he accidentally steps on a dog or cat or runs into them and they snap or hiss at him, he runs away scared as he does not like to upset any single being. His ears and paws are very sensitive to the touch so would recommend older children that will know to not touch ears or paws. He will scream,and yes, I do mean scream if his ears or paws get touched the wrong way.  He is crate trained but prefers to sleep wherever he wants at night. He specifically likes extra thick dog beds or double decker dogbeds. When he cuddles, he is like a squirrely octopus!  If you stop rubbing his belly, he will make sure to move around until you start petting him again. He will bark when you leave but generally calms down quickly and just naps. Currently (as of September 7th) he is not neutered and he will mark (urinate) in the house on occasion. That should lessen or stop after neuter. We are  hoping he will be cleared to be neutered (and a few lumps removed and possible dental) this month. He was battling an upper respiratory infection for about 6 weeks. This boy is one special soul and deserves the best retirement home.
