3/7 UPDATE:
Major was an owner surrender to a very rural shelter in southern Texas. He had many large masses on his body, a perineal hernia, emaciated and heart worm positive. He is about 10-12 years old.
Since in a foster home with RCBR, he has put on weight and seen many vets/specialists/cardiologists/oncologists. The cardiologist confirmed he does NOT have cardiomyopathy or concerns with his heart. His perineal hernia does look large, but his stomach/intestines/bladder are still inside his body where they should be and the hernia repair surgery can wait. Almost all of his masses tested to be benign, just the largest one came back as inconclusive.
Game plan: continue on with heart worm treatment. Once he is given the all-clear in about 4-6 months, he will have surgery to repair his hernia, neuter, and remove all his masses.
He is the sweetest boy! He is a "velcro" dog and is literally by his foster mom's side ALL the time. He even sleeps on the floor on his doggie bed next to her bed (she tried getting him to sleep in bed with her, but for some reason he prefers the floor). He LOVES car rides, especially to drop kids off at school or pick them up. He sits like a gentleman in the seat and pokes his head out the window to watch all the people! He is starting to learn how to play. He LOVES all other dogs....loves to go up to them and lick their faces. He thinks everyone is his best friend.
Major is looking for his forever home. He would do best in a home where there is a human home most of the time. He also loves the companionship of other dogs. He is an older gentleman, so he doesn't need an active family, but he does love going for walks! If you think your home could be a good fit for him, please fill out an adoption application. Even if adopted, RCBR would still cover the cost of all of his upcoming medical procedures! Let's get this boy into his forever retirement home!

From Major's rescue angel: It was painfully obvious from the get go that this poor boy had been abused and neglected for a long time. Major flinched any time I tried to pet him. He ran away when I got near him. He was scared, confused, hungry, dirty and in pain. I gave him a nice meal and lots of water, which he scarfed down. I then watched as he went to the bathroom, in extreme pain. Before trying anything further, I allowed him to decompress safely inside his kennel. After about 30 minutes of barking, he finally wore himself out and took a good 4 hour nap. Once he woke up, I gave him a nice warm bath. During the bath, he kept drinking all the water and just looking at me confused--like "what is this lady doing?? She is giving me nice touches and massaging my whole body?? This is weird, but I think I like it."

In giving Major a bath, I was able to fully exam his body and realize the extent of his medical issues. It was heartbreaking. He was in such pain while pooping because he had a perineal hernia the size of a grapefruit! He also had a 5 pound pendulum tumor hanging from his side. I could easily count at least a dozen more tumors/masses over his body. I also learned his tongue hangs out because the inside of his mouth is completely jacked up!

In less than 12 hours, Major has already begun trusting me. During breakfast, his butt never stopped wiggling and he wanted me to pet him the whole time while eating. Every time I stopped, he would turn around and look at me like I was a dumb-dumb for stopping! After breakfast, he just wanted to sit by me and lick my face! When I put him back in his kennel, he immediately just laid down and started sawing logs  He now feels safe and knows life is going to be pretty okay from now on. There is no better feeling than this.
