Print an adoption flyer for MARIAH! Mariah is 5-6 years old and was used for breeding. She lived outside and is learning about the love and comforts of living in a house. She is crate trained and working on potty training. When we are home, if we let her out fairly often she’s been doing great. Yesterday she had a couple accidents, which were my fault because I was getting too comfortable with how well she was doing and let my guard down. Mariah would benefit from basic obedience training and still needs to learn leash walking manners. She seems like a fast learner once she understands what you expect of her.
Mariah has been discovering toys and loves to play with them. She also likes to pick up slippers, shoes, clothes or blankets and move them to other rooms. We followed the “two week shutdown”/decompression period to allow her time to adjust and acclimate to our house, routines, and our dog, Charlie. After giving her the time to become familiar with sights, sounds and smells, she was gradually introduced to Charlie; we took it slow and our patience paid off. Mariah and Charlie get along well and she is benefiting from learning “how to dog” with Charlie as her mentor. While she might be 5-6 years old, I think she acts more like a 3-4 year old with some “puppy antics” added in as a bonus.
We are not sure about cats at this time. Mariah does a lot of staring at the resident cats and seems pretty intent on watching their every move. Could be curiosity or could be a high prey drive.
