Contact Ringo's Caretaker/Foster Directly: Margo McKay On October 20th I was sitting on my couch feeling a little anxious. I had agreed to foster a 12 year old Boxer named Ringo. I was told that Ringo had lived his life in a dirt floor kennel and was used as a breeder. He had never had vet care or felt the loving hand of human touch or had been in a home. Someone cut one of his ears off and he was very malnourished. When he arrived at my house, he came in and walked right over to me and crawled into my lap. He snuggled in and was softly snoring in about 2 minutes. I held this gentle old man for 2 hours. A few days later he was seen by the vet and he was found to have double ear infection, he had a terrible UTI, he was heart worm positive, had rotten infected teeth and had tumors that turned out to be cancer. He became a hospice dog. We didn’t think he would actually make it to Thanksgiving. We got several meds to treat what we could and make him comfortable. I also put a request out on Facebook to anyone who was interested to come and love on this precious boy. His favorite place to be is in someone’s lap and will crawl right in. My village responded and started coming to love this boy up. Thanksgiving came and went, as did Christmas. 6 months later this precious old man is absolutely thriving. He has gained weight and plays with my grandson every day. He actually runs around the yard like he is a puppy sometimes.
