Percy
From the foster family: Percival/Percy was wonderful, very loyal, great guardian, fun, playful, sweet loving, gentle, kind and a big beautiful goofball! He loved car rides, playing, fishing, being with us, meeting new people and lounging. He was one of the best companions we've had the honor & pleasure of knowing and being with (foster). Percy very quickly & in a very short amount of time became an important extremely loved, part of our family. Percy is in a better place now at the Rainbow Bridge. 9/16/2023

Phil (RCBR Felix)
Felix/Phil I have started this email so many times but was too sad to finish. Our family said goodbye to Phil 10 days ago. He completed his heartworm treatment, got partial hearing back with acupuncture/tincture of time, and was starting to regrow soft healthy hair and look so handsome. More importantly, he was beloved by every employee of Companion Animal Hospital and a good number of our clients who would ask to come around the desk to let him and say “hi”. He went to work with me nearly every day, occasionally skipping “work” on very cold days, as his Texas upbringing made him despise the cold and deeper snow. I have loved five good Boxers in my 60 years, and Phil was both the toughest and the most loving and pure of soul. How any creature at the age of nine, could move from the only home he had ever known, completely blind and deaf, yet immediately trust those around him to love him. He turned down his first meal ever during the last week of December. All of his lab work was normal. When he skipped eating another day the following week, he had full body X-rays and an ultrasound performed. We found cancer and fluid everywhere. His x-rays in October had been normal. He spent his very last moment on earth licking the bottom of his second pup cup of the evening, laying on his favorite bed at the clinic. My commute is lonely. Long live the memory and spirit of Phil. Sincerely, Thea and Jon, Kristian (who shared his bedroom with Phil), Maura and Natalie Fransen

Pickles
Stephanie D: I was Mr. Pickles first foster. I saw his ears in the picture from the shelter and I was hooked. He came to me scared, extremely sick and weak. I took the time to advocate for an ER visit on his first day with me and that was the best thing to help him at first. He ended up needing to be neutered fast due to an infection on his gherkins and it was discovered he had cancer. Once that painful stuff was removed, he became a dog and it was fun to see him grow in that regard. Mr. Pickles played with toys and tried to play with my boys. He loved cuddles, ripping up toys to make it snow inside, and just being by his human in general. Unfortunately, He continued to be weak in his back legs and it was really hard for him to climb stairs, so I made the decision to find a foster that did not have stairs or as many stairs in their home. This boy blessed my heart and will always live there with the others that I have loved that have passed on. Michele K: Pickles was a sweet pup. During his short time with RCBR, he loved being in the same room as where all the activity was taking place, even better if he got to say hi to visitors and then curl up in a soft dog bed. He enjoyed barking at whatever his pup family was barking at and playing with a tennis ball. Pickles did not let his muscle weakness slow him down - he loved being outside and exploring the yard. Pickles is missed by his people and pup family.

Popeye
"It's hard for me to put into words how fast and hard we fell in love with Popeye. He came at a hard time for us, the same night he arrived we had to rush our bunny off to the vet and unfortunately she passed away. Everything in me wanted to crawl in bed and sob over her, but Popeye needed us. He challenged us greatly with many potty messes. Helping him walk to the yard, getting peed on several times while walking. I think the intense amount of care we had to give him over just 1 month made our bond grow so quickly. Despite his inability to use his back legs, he always insisted on being wherever we were, even if we were gone for seconds he immediately got up and drag himself to where we were. He loved to bask in the sun and dinner time was always a joy. At times he loved to play and he would box like the Boxer he was. He absolutely loved to chew on anything BUT a dog toy. We didn't know how much time he had left so he got many snacks and we're normally a strictly no human food for dogs household. It truly tickled me when we'd get takeout and my husband would say "hey, give this to Popeye". The day he passed is not something I'll be able to get over for a long time. It was so sudden, he didn't deserve to die without his closest people there. Even if we had turned around we would have never made it in time. We left him thinking he'll be back home that night with us. We made arrangements for future care while we left town because we never thought he'd be gone so soon. We loved him fiercely and miss him so much it hurts. I hope he knew how much we loved him even up to his last breath."

Punkin Pie
There have been many rescue pups that have come through our home. Punkin Pie was our first senior gal. When she arrived, there were medical needs that required surgery. She went through them like a champ. Punkin hated to be alone or in a kennel. So, of course, we didn’t put her in one. After her surgery, she ran around like a pup again. Punkin was almost 12 years old; quite an achievement for a Boxer. The middle of November, we decided she would be our forever gal. Not knowing at the time we would only have her for a few more weeks as our very own. We adopted Punkin; we could not let her cross the Bridge as simply a foster dog. She has left a huge hole in our hearts. We miss her daily. We had her buried and placed a headstone for her – ‘Punkin Caton’
