Caesar
It was one day short of 2 months that I had with Caesar. He was a great, loving, loyal dog. We did dog parks, car rides, and road trips. I put up a fence so that he could have his freedom in the yard. Caesar’s health continued to decline due to several issues which led him to become extremely aggressive. It has been a very difficult time since his demise, but I know I gave him the greatest love and attention. I always will remember you, Caesar and know you are in a better place now. Mommy misses you all the time.

Candy
There are hardly any words for a dog as sweet as Candy. This loving senior girl was rescued from Kentucky and headed to foster in Minnesota. However, she was struggling on transport so made a detour to what would be her forever foster home in Indianapolis. A once anxious dog settled into her loving foster home quickly. She enjoyed cuddles, following her people everywhere both inside and outside the house, and watching her foster Dad mow the lawn. She was afraid to go upstairs, so her foster mama brought an air mattress downstairs to spend extra time cuddling and sleeping together. As Halloween approached, her health declined rapidly. She began collapsing and seizing and it was determined that her heart was failing. On November, 1st 2019, her foster mama gave birth to a beautiful little boy. On that same day, Candy gained her angel wings. Quite symbolic indeed.

Canelo
On February 23, 2022, there was a found stray weighing only 45 pounds. Canelo was given a slim chance of survival. We told Rejection Collection Boxer Rescue that if he could get from southern Texas to northern Minnesota, we would foster him. I met him in Duluth on March 27th. We helped him slowly heal; have a huge lump removed from his back; learn there would always be enough to eat; there would always be a soft, warm place to sleep. But most importantly, there would always be love. He officially became a Turner on August 2nd. He was such a funny little old man. He would grumble, fart, scratch his ear and fart, give the best stink eye when we were too noisy, and let you know when it was time to eat. He reminded Bobby of Cleetus from The Nutty Professor. And you could just picture him commenting in that same voice. He always waited until I had picked up all the poop in the yard, then mozy out in the yard and poop, and look at me like, “You missed a pile, Lady." He was a healthy 77 pounds the day he passed away. He managed to check off nearly everything on his bucket list. We had truly hoped to give him Thanksgiving and Christmas. But his little heart just could not hold out that long. We have had dogs our entire lives, and have loved them all. But there was something so very special about Canelo. He took a huge chunk of our hearts with him, and we will forever miss his grumpy face. We have no idea how old he was, but his best life began back on that fateful day in February. He was surrounded by love and tears when his soul gained wings on October 28th. We will love you forever Canelo Cleetus Turner.

Carly
Carly, you were so loved. If only that were enough. We do not know what was done to you in such a short time, or if there was something genetic at play. We tried everything we could to help you adjust to a better life. But some dogs just can't face this world and overcome their emotional scars. Sweet Carly, you could not overcome that fear. You were just too damaged. The world was just too big and too scary for you. Could you be placed safely into a home? Could we find a home that could handle your aggression and biting? Could you be safely managed and not cause bodily harm to a human or another animal? After working with experienced dog owners, seeking help from behaviorists and vets and undergoing a training process, the answer to all those questions was 'no'. Run free and be happy at the Bridge, Carly. Play with the other dogs and have the time of your life that was denied you here on Earth.

Chance
I am so happy I was able to be a happily ever after for this guy. He joined our family in October and from the first day, I knew he was special. I was able to watch him blossom and heal and understand what love really was. He kept me in laughs and hugs and helicopter tail wags. His bright eyes brightened my even darkest days. He took his last breath on 5/13/21 and will forever hold a HUGE chunk of my heart. We love and miss you very much Mr. Chance.
