Chanel
Chanel was with us for just a week, but we made sure she felt loved and that she was never alone. She was miserable most of the time; every movement caused the tumors on her legs to rub, so she spent most of her time cuddling. Chanel LOVED to snuggle and adored having her ears rubbed! Interestingly enough, she was not a fan of Sean Penn. Watching a movie he was in and whenever he was on the screen, she would bark like crazy. Silly girl! One night, she had a BK meal for dinner, the next night it was chicken strips; anything to make her happy and get her to eat. Fostering hospice dogs is so very hard, but what a privilege it is to be able to make their last days happy ones.

Clyde
16 days. Clyde knew love for his last 16 days. Clyde was found by a citizen in Georgia, laying on a front lawn. He was brought to the local shelter. He was about to be euthanized because the shelter felt no one would adopt him. You see, Clyde had no function of his back legs. He had what is called degenerative myelopathy. It is a progressive disorder that slowly paralyzes the body, starting with the tail end and working it's way up the spine. RCBR was contacted to see if we would help, and of course we said "yes"!!! A volunteer brought him to Best Friend Animal Hospital where he stayed for a week. He was showered with love by Dr. Angela Earick, Marie and their entire staff! This vet hospital is AMAZING! Blake Wilson then picked him up and road tripped to Chattanooga where he met with Bill Dye who drove him back to Ohio. Bill and Lorraine Dye have been taking great care of him for the last week. Clyde was all set to come to MN to his long-term foster family, but he took a sudden turn today, health-wise. Clyde was in pain and the most selfless thing to do was to help him over the bridge, where he could be pain-free and run with all four legs again. Thank you, Bill and Lorraine, for being there with him. Sometimes, this is rescue. We didn't have him long, but he did not die alone in a shelter. He was loved unconditionally for the last 16 days of his life ❤️❤️

Cocoa
"I never had dogs growing up and got my first dog when I was 23 and second dog when I was 31 and a third at 38. My two oldest crossed the rainbow bridge last fall at the ages of 17 and 9. They showed me all the love a senior dog could give. I adopted Cocoa on January 12th 2020. She immediately fit in with the family and was such a fun, silly, little girl. She just loved to eat and would do these dancing circles all the way around the house till I set her bowl down. In July she was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and we fought hard till she let me know she was ready to go and on October 21st, 2020 she crossed the rainbow bridge. Cocoa you are so missed. We love you.”

Comet Gotcha date December 13, 2019 Crossed the Rainbow Bridge March 11, 2020 Just 87 days was all we were given. It is never long enough. Comet started the week off being sick again. He was no longer tolerating his chicken and pasta. I had been alternating it with rice, mashed potatoes, and yogurt. Nothing seemed to work. He'd be Ok for a couple of days, then he wouldn't eat for a couple of days. What little weight he had managed to gain, was gone. Monday his beautiful eyes told me he was tired. So we made the decision to release his soul. Comet took his last freedom ride Wednesday afternoon. We put the top down on the Z3 and took a drive through town. He enjoyed the fresh air and warm sun on his face. We stopped at the local drive-in for a cheeseburger and some ice cream. You could see him smiling as he ate it. I'm sure that's the first time he's truly enjoyed eating in a while. He was sleeping with the Angels before all those yummy things he got caused intense belly pain for him. I wish I could have taken it all away. They come into our lives when we need them most. Just 87 days, but I loved you like it had been one million and 87 days. Rest easy my sweet frosty face Comet.

Copper
Copper was a gentle soul and brought happiness to everyone he met, and that was a lot of people! He was originally brought into rescue from a shelter in North Carolina. He was then fostered in both Ohio and Minnesota. Turns out, his forever mama lived in New York, so off he went on another adventure! His mama was so proud of him; she shared his everyday shenanigans with all her friends! Everyone loved hearing and seeing stories about Copper’s day. Eight months is all they had together, but he was the light of her life each and every one of those days.
