Eli (Apollo)
Eli passed away at age 15 due to complications with his heart. Eli came to us at the beginning of the pandemic and soon became the dignified old gentleman of the house. He was widely loved and supported, by family, friends and neighbors alike. Eli was unbothered by our chickens and liked to cuddle with our younger Boxer, Leia. He was always up for a conversation and would entertain us with his ‘woo-wooing’ speeches. We are so very thankful to have been chosen as Eli's forever family and are grateful for the time we got to spend with him. He really completed our family and he will be keenly missed.

Emma Jean
Sweet Emma Jean. A stray from Illinois, our rescue had the pleasure of taking her in to ensure she was given nothing but love, adoration, and the best care possible. She was diagnosed with suffering from blastomycosis - a fungal infection, often picked up in contaminated dirt, through the respiratory tract. The fungus, if not caught and treated right away, can wreak all sorts of havoc to dogs, which can include fever, depression, infection and sudden loss of vision, weight loss, loss of appetite, draining skin lesions, and enlarged lymph nodes, all of which our sweet Emma Jean showed symptoms of. After round-the-clock care from our vets, volunteers, and friends, Stacy (our rescue president) and her husband made the trek to Chicago to bring her home and assess what our next steps could be. It didn't take long to make a decision -- her condition seemed to be at it’s peak, despite the love and attention she was getting. She had little hope of a healthy recovery, and it was clear that the infection had been in her system for a long time, and it was causing so much damage. A decision to humanely let her pass to the Rainbow Bridge was made, and she was surrounded by people that loved her and fought for her every step of the way. Emma Jean, we didn’t know you long, but the time we had with you was special. You were a fighter, a lover, and you didn’t go down without giving it all you got. Run free, sweet girl, where you’ll never know pain or suffering again.

Emmett
Emmett was a very special boy. He was from the same rural shelter in Ohio in which our first Rejection Collection Boxer Rescue save (Diamond) came from. He was named Emmett in honor of RCBR Emma Jean who passed right before we rescued him. When RCBR got Emmett, we knew he didn't have long left on this Earth. He had a malignant tumor on his chest that has spread throughout his entire body. Emmett had a very limited amount of time left, but RCBR made sure those days were spent smothering him in hugs, kisses, and love, and he knew nothing but love until his last breath.
