Gabby was a sweet senior lady that captured the heart of her foster mama, who eventually became her forever mama. RCBR was more than happy to give you a fantastic retirement home before you crossed over The Rainbow Bridge with your mama by your side. Sweet Pea was a lovely old Boxer lady who loved life and enjoyed every second of her time left here on earth. She came to me with a mammary tumor. But I am so grateful it could be removed so she could live comfortably until the end. Sweet Pea reminded me daily to live life to the fullest and be silly up until that very last breath. I would have loved more time with her. Sweet Pea passed away on her own terms in her own home with those that loved her. Benny went by many names: Benjamin, Buttons, Burgers, Bouncy Boy. He was the gentlest, sweetest soul and he will forever be missed. We adopted Benny on January 25, 2020. We already had 3 rescue boxers and we weren’t sure about adding a fourth but when we saw a video of Benny running in the snow, we had to give it a try. It must have been meant to be because when we were waiting to pick him up “Bennie and the Jets” came on the radio. He immediately jumped up into our Suburban without any hesitation. We had a little rocky start getting him and our other boy Gunner to get along but it worked out and they eventually would snuggle together. He showed us just how sweet he was when he had to get eye surgery for an ulcer and never messed with his eye or fought us putting eye drops in his eyes every few hours. He eventually became head of the neighborhood watch and would announce his tour of duty with barks when outside. Oddly he rarely barked in the house; I can count on one hand how many times he barked inside! He was my workout buddy even though he mostly just napped while I worked out. Occasionally he would wake up and give me a little kiss to make sure I was ok and then go right back to sleep until I was done. He was my coworker when I began working from home. Curling up next to me on the couch where I worked. If I got up to get a drink or go to the bathroom, he would often steal my spot but of course I couldn’t move him because he would look at me with those big soulful eyes. He loved to sleep right up next to us. We would spend our nights uncomfortable just to make sure that he was sleeping peacefully. Benny passed away in his sleep on September 10, 2022. We only had him for 2 and a half years. We are forever grateful that we got to know him in all his silly, sweet, and gentle ways and got to spoil him in the last few years of his life. In July of 2020, Liu Kang came into our lives. We have been boxer owners and lovers for many years and decided to add to our herd. Formerly known as Rudy, the first thing anyone noticed about Liu was how big he was. He was both physically large and also possessed a gigantic personality. He would knock you down with exuberance. He was also extremely gentle with our young daughter. Found as a stray, we didn’t know anything about his background but he was fully house trained, initially wouldn’t get on furniture (my husband changed that) and decided he liked it with us so much that he refused to ever leave the yard, even when we wanted to go for a hike. Unfortunately, soon after he came to us we noticed his gait was off in his hind end. This turned out to be DM and he deteriorated over the next two years to the point where his quality of life recently was such that humane euthanasia was the best option. He was very loved in his short two years with us and is dearly missed. I don’t even know how to put into words how much Brodie meant to me. I was so nervous about adopting him and not knowing much about him. I only knew that his previous owner had passed away. I drove 5.5 hours to meet this guy and bring him home. He had a hold of my heart so quickly. He was truly the best dog I have ever had, and my third boxer. He was such a gentle soul that loved to play and get pets. He always welcomed everyone he came in contact with. He really never met a stranger. It was so difficult to watch him pace and pant, and then develop a cough. The vet revealed that he had an enlarged heart (which I already knew he had a huge ), an enlarged liver and a mass in his abdomen. Bless his heart, he still wanted to play with his rope but would tire out so quickly. I know he’s free and running around now but I miss him terribly. 18 months was not long enough. I just know his original owner is so thrilled to see him! Brodie left a big paw print on my heart/life. I will love him forever. Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
