Moses
He was found running loose. We don’t know how long he had been on his own. When we first got Moses he was to be our foster dog. We were to get him fixed & he was to move on. He was estimated to be about 12 years old. Moses was severely underweight (we eventually put 20 pounds on him). He had a huge renal hernia, Grade 4 heart murmur & he was in kidney failure. Surgery to neuter him & fix the hernia was out of the question. The decision was made to make him comfortable and let him live out what was left of his life. He ate his prescription food for kidney failure and received lots of treats. We ran some tests and found that he had a thyroid issue and began taking medication for it. After a few months on the medication. Moses made a huge transformation. He was no longer just laying around; he was actually running outside & eagerly participating in life. He loved to jump in my lap when I got home from work. Most of the time he didn’t even wait for me to sit down first. When you would look at him he seemed to have a smile on his face. I think he knew how lucky he was now. We got the call that a family wanted to adopt him. Our hearts dropped because he had become such a large part of our lives. But we wanted what was best for Moses. When the adoption fell through we took it as a sign that Moses wanted to stay with us forever. We formally adopted Moses and threw him a “Gotcha Party” with a cake that he helped devour. Since we had no clue when his birthday was, we decided to make it January 1st. Moses got to enjoy two more birthdays with us. Making him to our best guess a little over 14 years old (maybe older) by the time he crossed the bridge. Moses was the “dad” to our other Boxers, Radar & Nitro. He would clean their faces & ears. He loved to go outside & lay on the deck in nice weather. Every time he went outside he had to walk the perimeter of the yard before he went potty, we called it Moses’ Moseying. On a few of his moseying trips he scared us to death when he didn’t return to the door upon his moseying. We would walk around looking for him scared to death that we were going to find him expired. Only to find him on the side of the house taking a nap! He’d wake up & look at us like what is all of the fuss about. I was just napping. Moses started showing signs that he was tired and in pain. So we made the difficult choice to help him to the Rainbow Bridge. Our vet’s office was such a great help. I think a few of them cried as much as we did. Moses is truly missed but I know that he had the best 2 ½ years of his life. Upon our return from vacation we are going to foster again. If you are leaning towards fostering, PLEASE DO. It is such a rewarding experience. You get to first hand watch them transform into the free beautiful beings that they are. The follow ups with the adoptive families make your heart swell with hope, pride & joy for everyone.

Blanche
Blanche was only with us for a little while. But during the time she was here, she enjoyed many things. Along with going up north on the weekends & a camping trip. She loved playing with her foster fur sister Jana. They enjoyed many hours of play time. She also loved biting squeaky toys. She never tore them apart, just bit them to make them squeak. She was a very good girl & easy to take care of. She stole many hearts with her quiet manner. Even though she never "officially" found her forever home this was her Home. She definitely took a piece of our hearts with her. Run free little girl.

Mildred
MILDRED MARY ROBERTS 12 years PLUS 695 bonus days, passed away at home on Thursday, January 6, 2022 with her mom, Kathy, and kitty, Virgil, by her side. Mildred was given a second chance at life when she joined Rejection Collection Boxer Rescue on February 12, 2020. At that time Mildred was considered to be in Hospice care and was looking for a home and family who would help her be comfortable as she prepared to cross the rainbow bridge. Nobody expected for Mildred to live such a long and meaningful life beyond that time. April 30, 2020 Mildred was adopted by her new Mom, Kathy Roberts. Mildred quickly acclimated to her new home, family, and job. Mildred joined her mom at work most days during the shutdown to help maintain good mental health with the staff and clients. It did not take long for her personality to blossom. She was overly animated with all of her feelings and thoughts, so much that she was able to begin writing letters to her friends and fans on Facebook. Her letters are full of wonder, excitement, adventure, questions, and positive feedback. To honor her memory, Kathy is compiling the letters from Mildred for a book. Mildred had a variety of hobbies included going for walks and car rides, hanging with her BFF Gemma, vacationing at Aunt Regee’s home, working with her mom, posting on Facebook, and coordinating the entire neighborhood watch program for her street. Mildred was able to put a positive spin on most everything, even if she crabbed about it. She considered herself to be ‘fancy’ and an asset in most situations. A private family service will be held at a later date. Mildred will be laid to rest in the spring in a private family location. To honor Mildred, please do something nice for a pet. Spend some time with a fur friend in need, donate to a local shelter or rescue, or just spend some extra time cuddling a fur friend you love.

Jaxon
Jaxon crossed the bridge 7/1/2022 Jaxon was a sweet, loving, distinguished gentleman. He loved to snuggle and be close to his person. He was a watchful pup, learning to trust that humans were safe. He loved car rides, cuddling on the couch, and running back inside when it was cold out (he came to RCBR in the cold of winter from the southern United States). He was also a caring foster brother. When Lucy (RCBR Boxer) joined the household, he let her have the best snuggle spots and loved to share his days with her. He was a calm and loving pup who is greatly missed.

George
Georgie was my COVID foster. When the shutdown happened I knew I would have the time on my hands and our house was feeling a bit empty. Georgie came to us just out of a tumor surgery and heartworm positive. He showed lots of boxer spunk and personality. Georgie was adopted out in May. Fast forward a few months and I was notified that Georgie was being returned to the rescue. I knew right away he was meant to come back home. It’s always hard letting a foster go but the drive home after dropping Georgie off was by far the hardest one yet. Bringing Georgie home the second time felt like he had never left. Georgie was by my side when we lost Jake. He helped me pick up the pieces. The last 9 months of his life were not the easiest. He had lost function in his hind end. He found a second spark once he learned how to use his borrowed wheelchair. But towards the end his pride and dignity slowly faded. In the end, he passed very quickly. Which tells my heart that he knew and was ready to embrace it. He is free from discomfort and pain. He gets to run around and play with his brothers on the other side of the bridge. My sister sent me this message and I think it holds true for this exact moment: “You know, I got to thinking about it and an animal's death means more to people than to the animal. Animals don’t understand death, so they don’t fear it like humans do. To animals, they are just alive. They know no death. They are there and then they are not. So they are going to go “out” feeling the same way about you as they did from day 1 and every day after. There’s no fear, sadness, remorse, nothing for them. So you may feel bad because you’re losing him, but he will not be fearing death, or sad because he’s dying, or pain from something you’ve done. “ #georgieporgie
