Bootsie Lee
Bootsie Lee honored me with her presence for 1-1/2 years. Before coming into Rescue, she spent her entire life living year-round in a barn in Michigan, along with her male Boxer 'mate' and 3 of their sons, having puppies year-after-year. No way for any dog to live.....especially in the often brutal Michigan winters and hot, bug-filled summers. Bootsie, 'Booter', 'Boots McGroots' fit in with my girls immediately, like she had been with us forever. She LOVED her plush stuffed 'babies' and frequently had 10-12 in her 'room', I mean kennel, carrying one up the stairs to bed every night. Bootsie had spunk; was a lover and cuddler with the absolutely sweetest face that mirrored her personality. Unfortunately, she came in diagnosed with Spondylosis, a spine disease that ultimately affects the use of the back legs and is usually painful. The disease progressed. Her back legs would go every which way and her back feet would knuckle under, causing her legs to go really wonky. Eventually, she could no longer stand for any length of time before her back end would shrink down to a sitting position - even when eating/drinking. The last 2 weeks, when she would squat to potty, she ended up falling on her backside and really struggled to get up. The time finally came when her spirit was willing but her body.....not so much. I knew it was time to lift her up to the Rainbow Bridge where she could be pain-free. Bootsie lived to be approx. 11-1/2 yrs old. 1-1/2 years is not nearly enough time to give her the love she should have had her entire life. But oh how she was loved for those 18 months; how she touched the hearts of everyone who helped transport her, overnight her and care for her along the way into Rescue. I am beyond grateful for every second of those 18 months. Every one of my dogs at the Rainbow Bridge has taken a piece of my heart with them. The piece they take leaves room in my heart to help another. ~ Duraye

Brodie
I don’t even know how to put into words how much Brodie meant to me. I was so nervous about adopting him and not knowing much about him. I only knew that his previous owner had passed away. I drove 5.5 hours to meet this guy and bring him home. He had a hold of my heart so quickly. He was truly the best dog I have ever had, and my third boxer. He was such a gentle soul that loved to play and get pets. He always welcomed everyone he came in contact with. He really never met a stranger. It was so difficult to watch him pace and pant, and then develop a cough. The vet revealed that he had an enlarged heart (which I already knew he had a huge ), an enlarged liver and a mass in his abdomen. Bless his heart, he still wanted to play with his rope but would tire out so quickly. I know he’s free and running around now but I miss him terribly. 18 months was not long enough. I just know his original owner is so thrilled to see him! Brodie left a big paw print on my heart/life. I will love him forever.

Bronco [Bronx]
Bronco, came to RCBR in Feb of 2020 from Missouri. He was a very sick boy with infections and lumps and bumps and needed major care before finding a home of his own. Bronco found that home, was renamed Bronx and was very much loved. But he never fully recovered from all his infections and became reactive and aggressive, Unfortunately after several bite incidents, Bronx was humanely euthanized with his family at his side.

Buddy
In the short 5 months that we’ve been together, we formed an incredible bond. I still remember the night I drove to Indiana to get you, and how you protected me at the rest stop on the way home. Our fun times of you wagging your tail when I got home from work, our games of “find it” with Rogue, walks and Jeep rides were a happy time in my life and in yours. The last month has been very difficult for you health wise, and the pain has made your days long and difficult. You were a very good dog Buddy, and you were my “Buddy”. Love you and I’ll miss you, but I can’t bear for you to be in pain any longer.

Bugsy
"Bugsy was a wonderful boy. When he first came home, unlike the other boxers we've had in the past, he didn't attach himself to either myself or my husband. He loved us and we loved him, but it became clear when our daughter came home that he was meant to be hers, they have been glued together since. I could not have asked for a better dog to be my daughter's first dog. He was so loving and patient with her, even when she would accidentally be too rough or fall on him when she was learning to walk. He was her protector and her best friend. We grieve the loss of Bugsy for ourselves, but even more so for the loss of the beautiful friendship he and my daughter had together. We'll miss you so much sweet boy."
