![]() Bronco, came to RCBR in Feb of 2020 from Missouri. He was a very sick boy with infections and lumps and bumps and needed major care before finding a home of his own. Bronco found that home, was renamed Bronx and was very much loved. But he never fully recovered from all his infections and became reactive and aggressive, Unfortunately after several bite incidents, Bronx was humanely euthanized with his family at his side. ![]() Sweet Emma Jean. A stray from Illinois, our rescue had the pleasure of taking her in to ensure she was given nothing but love, adoration, and the best care possible. She was diagnosed with suffering from blastomycosis - a fungal infection, often picked up in contaminated dirt, through the respiratory tract. The fungus, if not caught and treated right away, can wreak all sorts of havoc to dogs, which can include fever, depression, infection and sudden loss of vision, weight loss, loss of appetite, draining skin lesions, and enlarged lymph nodes, all of which our sweet Emma Jean showed symptoms of. After round-the-clock care from our vets, volunteers, and friends, Stacy (our rescue president) and her husband made the trek to Chicago to bring her home and assess what our next steps could be. It didn't take long to make a decision -- her condition seemed to be at it’s peak, despite the love and attention she was getting. She had little hope of a healthy recovery, and it was clear that the infection had been in her system for a long time, and it was causing so much damage. A decision to humanely let her pass to the Rainbow Bridge was made, and she was surrounded by people that loved her and fought for her every step of the way. Emma Jean, we didn’t know you long, but the time we had with you was special. You were a fighter, a lover, and you didn’t go down without giving it all you got. Run free, sweet girl, where you’ll never know pain or suffering again. ![]() There are hardly any words for a dog as sweet as Candy. This loving senior girl was rescued from Kentucky and headed to foster in Minnesota. However, she was struggling on transport so made a detour to what would be her forever foster home in Indianapolis. A once anxious dog settled into her loving foster home quickly. She enjoyed cuddles, following her people everywhere both inside and outside the house, and watching her foster Dad mow the lawn. She was afraid to go upstairs, so her foster mama brought an air mattress downstairs to spend extra time cuddling and sleeping together. As Halloween approached, her health declined rapidly. She began collapsing and seizing and it was determined that her heart was failing. On November, 1st 2019, her foster mama gave birth to a beautiful little boy. On that same day, Candy gained her angel wings. Quite symbolic indeed. ![]() 16 days. Clyde knew love for his last 16 days. Clyde was found by a citizen in Georgia, laying on a front lawn. He was brought to the local shelter. He was about to be euthanized because the shelter felt no one would adopt him. You see, Clyde had no function of his back legs. He had what is called degenerative myelopathy. It is a progressive disorder that slowly paralyzes the body, starting with the tail end and working it's way up the spine. RCBR was contacted to see if we would help, and of course we said "yes"!!! A volunteer brought him to Best Friend Animal Hospital where he stayed for a week. He was showered with love by Dr. Angela Earick, Marie and their entire staff! This vet hospital is AMAZING! Blake Wilson then picked him up and road tripped to Chattanooga where he met with Bill Dye who drove him back to Ohio. Bill and Lorraine Dye have been taking great care of him for the last week. Clyde was all set to come to MN to his long-term foster family, but he took a sudden turn today, health-wise. Clyde was in pain and the most selfless thing to do was to help him over the bridge, where he could be pain-free and run with all four legs again. Thank you, Bill and Lorraine, for being there with him. Sometimes, this is rescue. We didn't have him long, but he did not die alone in a shelter. He was loved unconditionally for the last 16 days of his life ❤️❤️ ![]() Destiny Jean was a 1 in a million. She was blind and hard of hearing but had the heart of a lion. She was gentle when taking food from your hand and so trusting when you helped her find her way. Unfortunately, no matter how hard she (we) fought it was not enough to overcome her debilitated state.
