Rocko
Sweet Rocko’s time with us was far too short. Pulled as an emergency case from IACS and taken immediately to the ER vet where it was determined that he was almost certainly suffering from a brain tumor. His owners surrendered him after days of back to back seizures and inability to walk. Sweet Rocko was distant, and clearly suffering. While we were unable to save Rocko, he had lived a long life before making it to IACS, and touched our hearts in such a short time.

Truman
We had to say goodbye to Truman today. His body said enough - that it was time. Even though he hurt, felt sick, was tired he never wavered in his sweet demeanor. When you spoke to him his tail wagged, his face turned upwards toward your voice and his eyes smiled. That was Truman - joy encapsulated in his frail boxer body. It was only fitting that as he took his last breath that the heavens opened up and the angels cried for our loss. For those of us who had grown to love him so deeply, for those who will never know his sweet face and for his brother who has to go on alone without his brother's guidance, security and love. Those angels’ tears were only for us. Because in their arms they held Truman who brought his joyous qualities to their world to light the heavens above with the joy and exuberance that only a boxer can possess. Truman we will miss you.

Vincent
Vincent was saved from a shelter in Ohio at the age of 10. He got to have the best last couple months of his life at his foster home, knowing nothing but love. Words from his foster mom: “I am heartbroken. I know that I can’t save them all and that he has had the best few months of his life here with us. But it still hurts.” We loved loving you, Vincent!

Roscoe

Roscoe came into rescue after his owner passed away. He had the best personality and loved car rides. He settled into our home without any problems. He loved all pack members, even the cats. Roscoe, with all his gumminess, was first in line for treats....soft only please. Although he would often put them in his mouth only to drop them to the floor and walk away.

I quietly prayed the dental would fix this while fearing it would not. He never let me out of his sight for more than a moment. If I left the room, he would get up from his bed and search for me. He would peek around each corner to find me. Once he laid eyes on me he would return to his soft bed with his squeaky reindeer and wait for me to reappear. After his dental we were hopeful he would begin to eat without any issues. Sadly, it was not the case.

There are things all the love and prayers just can't fix. I believe he was searching for "his person" and finally was reunited with him at the Rainbow Bridge. Roscoe was a loving and sweet soul. We will be planting an American Persimmon in his honor come spring.

Mo (RCBR Maurice)
Mo, the southern gentlemen from Tennessee, arrived in Minnesota in February 2021 on the coldest weekend of the year.

Throughout our 4 years with him, we worked with him to curb his separation anxiety, though he kept his ability to go from snoring to following mom out of a room in less than 10 seconds. He became comfortable using a ramp to get in and out of the car, and grew in confidence around other dogs. His favorite things included riding in the Burley on bike rides, exploring new places, going to the office with us, bacon, and while he wasn’t a fan on baths, he loved the hairdryer. He also loved other people and we had an ongoing joke that he’d go home with anyone.

At the end of January, the cough he’d always had and we’d noticed an uptick in, developed into coughing fits and trouble breathing. A trip to the Doggy ER revealed a big mass in his lungs. We brought him home and enjoyed a beautiful last day with him. After a breakfast of bacon, eggs, and buttered toast, we took him on a walk on his favorite route, had chicken nuggets for lunch, and said goodbye to him in his fuzzy bed, with us and his feline brothers by his side.

He was our first and best dog. He loved his people and we were lucky to be his people.
