Elouise

"Sweet Elouise. At the time (January 2020) I was doing intake for Rejection Collection Boxer Rescue, and we were contacted about this 7- to 9-year-old ‘mini boxer’ that was surrendered to the shelter and presumed to have Cushing's. Mom and I picked her up and all we could say was she was soooooo cute! My vet Dr. Belz instantly said I had to adopt her, and it wasn’t long before we did. I had never had a small dog before, and we often called her Little Baby. Me, being a childless dog/cat lady started buying outfits immediately! She stole our hearts for sure. With the help of a team of vets (primary Dr. Belz, Dr. Stacy with Trillium -Acupuncture and Chinese herbs, AERC specialists and U of MN specialists we finally got her regulated. She had a macro tumor on her brain as well as hyperthyroidism (usually dogs have hypo) and possible thyroid cancer. 4 years ago, we met with oncology, and they predicted she had a year if we did not do chemo. We decided against chemo, but she lived 4 more years for a total of 5 + with us!!! If you met Elouise, you know she looooooved to give kisses and stare into your eyes. One visitor called her creepy which has always made us laugh. We thought she loved us so much with all her affection but turned out she truly loved everyone. The last couple months her white blood cell counts were high but initial X-rays in March were not concerning. Thursday I just knew she was ‘off’, so I brought her to Dr. Belz who thought she looked bloated and immediately took an x-ray that showed a large stomach mass. I came around the corner and saw both Dr. Belz and sweet Jade in tears……I called Francis to come and went and got her a sausage McMuffin. She also had chronic pancreatitis so had to be on a bland diet, so she was VERY happy with her treat. We put her to peace and our hearts are broken. The house (despite 5 resident dogs and 1 foster dog and many cats) feels so empty and so quiet. I can’t express the strong enough words of how much she was loved…… until we meet again Little Baby…."

Angel Heart

Where do I start!? When Ritzy Roo left me, my heart was beyond broken, he was a very special boy. But like all the others I knew the right one would come to me, when I was asked about Angel, I knew I had to foster her, her name said it all but seeing her video of her shaking like a leaf I knew she needed the love I have to give. I always think of the right home comes along I'll let them go, well I fall in love and for various reasons you know it's not good for them to switch to another home either. So it was, I adopted her, and she stayed 2 1/2 years!! Pretty good for a 10-year-old! She had plenty of health issues which thankfully got better with the rescue. Another boxer with heart issues, imagine that!?! But once on Sotalol no more syncope. She had a fear of men like no other, hated Rick for some time and till her last day she would give him a few seconds of grief. But she grew to love him dearly. I've never seen any dog love balls like her, she had her favorites for sure, but we showered her with all kinds of balls because you never knew if she'd have a new temporary favorite! She was a beauty too; I don't care what my dog looks like but a stunning boxer she was!! Heartbreaking was the day we saw symptoms of DM. We knew what we were in for, she was our fourth one. She did pretty well for a while and her love for balls helped her keep going. I really think it helped keep her strength up but then you know it's enough.... Between painful arthritis and the struggles of the disease we said our sad goodbye. She was so fun and kept me going too, she is dearly missed!

Zeus
20 days. Zeus knew love for his last 20 days. Zeus was owner surrendered to a shelter in Texas due to his massive growths all over his body, especially the bowling ball-sized one on his hind leg. Rejection Collection Boxer Rescue and Passport for Paws worked together to free him from the shelter, foster him and transport him to MN. Ultimately, it decided it was in his best interest to help him cross the bridge, where he would be pain-free. Being a senior and special needs rescue, sometimes we only have a very limited amount of time with the dogs. Part of our mission is to get those dogs out of the shelter environment so they only know love in their final days. Mission accomplished.
