Dora
DORA 1/26/2024 Sweet Dora crossed the rainbow bridge on January 26th while her foster dad held her in his arms and her foster sister (RCBR alum Sadie) lie faithfully by her side. Dora drifted peacefully to sleep knowing she was loved and cherished by her foster family and her larger RCBR family. Dora arrived at RCBR after having been abandoned, tied to a street sign with her doggy brother, in rural Indiana. RCBR volunteers quickly stepped in to spring her from the shelter and get her to Wisconsin to her temporary foster home. On September 18th, Dora came to live with our family in Madison, our first try at fostering. We had seen RCBR’s post about Dora, and the picture of her tied to that street sign, and we knew we needed to give her a soft place to land. We had no idea the profound effect on our lives Dora would have in such a short time. Dora LOVED teenagers, and from their first meeting, Dora and Nolan were smitten with each other. While Dora relished every new friend she met, Nolan was most definitely her person. Dora learned to love cats, though it was SO hard not to chase them. Dora adored Sadie, often giving her kisses on her ears while they walked side by side each morning. Dora and Sadie had multiple beds to choose from, yet they always ended up snuggled up together on the same one. Dora had DM when she arrived in rescue and needed some minor accommodations to live her best life. She didn’t seem to mind one bit and took it all in stride. Unfortunately, in December her DM started to progress very rapidly, and life became harder for Dora to navigate. Dora was a very proud lady and did not appreciate the assistance of a sling. She wanted her independence. Once her need for assistance could not be denied, Dora made it clear that she was ready to be set free of the burden her body had become. We miss Dora terribly and will forever wish we had more time with her. We were honored to be her foster/forever family and to welcome her into our pack. Godspeed, Dora. Until we meet again sweetheart.

Duke
Duke (formerly known as Hector) was an old, gentle soul. He loved to snuggle and be close to his people and that included his little human brother. Duke could be found napping on the couch, laying in the sun, chasing his fur siblings in the backyard when he got a burst of energy or sharing snacks with his human brother. His favorite foods were steak, bacon and peanut butter but he wasn’t fussy! Duke was able to experience camping and loved taking walks through the campground and sitting by the fire. We got to enjoy about 7 months with him which wasn’t nearly long enough. We don’t know what Duke’s past was like but we do know the 7 months with us was full of lots and lots of love. Rest In Peace, Dukey Tukio, your sweet soul will never be forgotten. ❤️

Duke II
Duke crossed 3/20/2023 Sweet Duke only got to spend ten days in Minnesota. He arrived here having no use of his back legs at all. He was still a happy and loving boy. In those ten days he was loved so very much. He cuddled with former RCBR alum/foster fail Angel. They were like an old married couple. She was so smitten with him. He had the best soft and loving eyes and would curl up in my lap and quickly fall fast asleep. It was evident he was in pain and would not get any better. On his last day, he let me know it was time for his transition. We had a Birthday PAWty for him and he gobbled down his Meat Cake. He left a big impact on my heart in the short time he was here. Fly High Sweet Boy – I’ll catch you at the Rainbow Bridge. You were so very loved.
