Molly
Our Molly girl is gone. She got sick and after having seizures, we decided the best thing for her would be to pass comfortably. We are heartbroken. I, Courtney, am admittedly a cat person, but due to various factors we are a dog family. So a year and a half ago we adopted (Poppy) Molly. I thought she was an awesome family dog but was not expecting her to capture my heart in a way that had previously been reserved for my cat, Mufasa, who I had my entire childhood. I’m so grateful for Molly and how she impacted our family. She loved on me right after we got her and made me believe she knew I needed her….we needed her. It’s been a few weeks, and I still cry almost daily. I don’t want to grieve her passing because she shouldn’t have had to pass, she should be here, loving us just as much as we love her.

Morti
Old man Morti loved a soft bed and warm sunshine. Old Man Morti, Mr Morti, Mortimer, Morti Moo, but mostly my love, passed away from old age and some senior issues he was dealing with. When he finally woke up after 15 hours of sleep, he could not stand, walk, or balance at all. Like the gentlemen he was he waited for us to carry him outside and hold him in place while he peed. His head was bobbing and his eyes flickering from side to side. Morti came to me as a foster but we adopted him so he was part of a family and had his own people who loved him dearly. Run fast and free my perfect one. I will take in another and give him your bed, blankets, good food, fresh water, lots of love, and that patch of sunshine you loved so much. Lucy, Rick, and Rose

Moses
He was found running loose. We don’t know how long he had been on his own. When we first got Moses he was to be our foster dog. We were to get him fixed & he was to move on. He was estimated to be about 12 years old. Moses was severely underweight (we eventually put 20 pounds on him). He had a huge renal hernia, Grade 4 heart murmur & he was in kidney failure. Surgery to neuter him & fix the hernia was out of the question. The decision was made to make him comfortable and let him live out what was left of his life. He ate his prescription food for kidney failure and received lots of treats. We ran some tests and found that he had a thyroid issue and began taking medication for it. After a few months on the medication. Moses made a huge transformation. He was no longer just laying around; he was actually running outside & eagerly participating in life. He loved to jump in my lap when I got home from work. Most of the time he didn’t even wait for me to sit down first. When you would look at him he seemed to have a smile on his face. I think he knew how lucky he was now. We got the call that a family wanted to adopt him. Our hearts dropped because he had become such a large part of our lives. But we wanted what was best for Moses. When the adoption fell through we took it as a sign that Moses wanted to stay with us forever. We formally adopted Moses and threw him a “Gotcha Party” with a cake that he helped devour. Since we had no clue when his birthday was, we decided to make it January 1st. Moses got to enjoy two more birthdays with us. Making him to our best guess a little over 14 years old (maybe older) by the time he crossed the bridge. Moses was the “dad” to our other Boxers, Radar & Nitro. He would clean their faces & ears. He loved to go outside & lay on the deck in nice weather. Every time he went outside he had to walk the perimeter of the yard before he went potty, we called it Moses’ Moseying. On a few of his moseying trips he scared us to death when he didn’t return to the door upon his moseying. We would walk around looking for him scared to death that we were going to find him expired. Only to find him on the side of the house taking a nap! He’d wake up & look at us like what is all of the fuss about. I was just napping. Moses started showing signs that he was tired and in pain. So we made the difficult choice to help him to the Rainbow Bridge. Our vet’s office was such a great help. I think a few of them cried as much as we did. Moses is truly missed but I know that he had the best 2 ½ years of his life. Upon our return from vacation we are going to foster again. If you are leaning towards fostering, PLEASE DO. It is such a rewarding experience. You get to first hand watch them transform into the free beautiful beings that they are. The follow ups with the adoptive families make your heart swell with hope, pride & joy for everyone.
